Catalogue Entry

Cup cast from opaque red glass. While the same shape as cat. No. 78, here there is no groove between the vessel body and foot. Both inner and outer surfaces show green-colored iridescence. This vessel shape is commonly known as a patella cup, and is one of the most widely known glass vessel types from the early Imperial Roman period, when it also appeared in translucent glass and mosaic glass examples.
