Journey to a Real-World Shangri-La
The Miho Museum’s otherworldly design starts with the Reception Pavilion. Visitors are led down a walkway enveloped by weeping cherry trees, pass through a tunnel and over a suspension bridge before arriving at the Museum Building. Once inside, they are free to roam and explore the wonders of a museum lying buried in a mountainside.
Proceed to the Museum Building after purchasing your ticket (9:30 am to 4:00 pm). Feel free to visit the restaurant (hours: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm; lunch time: 11:30 am to 2:30 pm) before going to the Museum Building, in a break while viewing the exhibits, or after viewing the exhibits.
Present your ticket at the information desk. The exhibits can be viewed starting with either the North or South Wing. Feel free to visit the tea room (hours: 10:30 am to 5:00 pm; last order: 4:30 pm) to take a break. Return to the Reception Pavilion if you want to have lunch in the restaurant. If you plan on returning to the exhibits after lunch, inform the staff at the information desk before leaving.
