切子装飾瓶

緑がかった透明ガラスを型吹きし、カットを施して成形した瓶である。口は水平に開き、周囲が六角形にカットされている。頚は縦長の長方形のカットを6面に施し、その下には円形のカットが6つ、上下2段で頚を一周している。肩には水平面を2段ほど削り、その下にはカットが上段17個、中段17個、下段18個で胴部を一周している。底はおそらく削り出しの高台で、周囲に8個のカットが施されている。ササン朝ペルシアの様式を受け継いだ、イスラム時代の作品と思われる。

This bottle was blown and molded from greenish translucent glass which was decorated with cut work. The mouth opens out to a flat form, and is surrounded by hexagonal cuts. The neck is decorated with six vertical rectangular cuts, and beneath these cuts, there are two rows, upper and lower, of six circular cuts each, which entirely circle the neck. The shoulders have been cut into a two-step flat surface, with the body then decorated with three ranks of cut work, with 17 cuts in the upper rank, 17 cuts in the middle rank, and 18 cuts in the lower rank. The base was shaved into a foot form that was then decorated with eight cut forms. This bottle is believed to have been made during the Islamic period as a continuation of a Sasanian style.
