This exhibit brings together works from the Miho Museum collection that were produced in China between Neolithic times and the Han dynasty. An overview essay in English introduces the major historical developments from prehistoric to ancient China as revealed by archaeological and other research. The items on display are arranged as much as possible in chronological order. Although the scale of this exhibit is small, the defining features of works as they changed according to the period they were made give us glimpses of the vast sweep of events leading to the birth of ancient China.
