Transport Access While Prefectural Road 16 Is Partially Suspended

The Miho Museum may be reached via JR Biwako Line, changing to the JR Kusatsu Line, and the Shigaraki Kogen Railway Line and also via fixed-route bus services. For those who visit the museum by car or taxi, please note the abovementioned road conditions. We are sorry for above-mentioned inconveniences but are grateful for your understanding and cooperation.

Road Closures and Alternate Routes
– Section closed: Otsu Shigaraki Road (Prefectural Road 16), between Kamitanakami Maki and Kamitanakami Odorii, city of Otsu
– Free of charge for use of section of Shin-Meishin Expressway as alternate route: During the under-construction period, vehicles using the alternate route section of Shin-Meishin Expressway between Kusatsu Tanakami Interchange and Shigaraki Interchange will not be charged.

Approx. 35 minutes from any of JR stations Ishiyama, Seta, Minami-kusatsu, Kusatsu, or Ritto. Approx. 20 minutes from Shigaraki Station on the Shigaraki Kogen Railway Line.

Note: From Ishiyama, Seta, or Minami-kusatsu, please use the Shin-Meishin Expressway section between Kusatsu Tanakami and Shigaraki. Expressway access for the section is currently without charge.

By Car
≪Via Expressway≫
Approx. 15 minutes from Shigaraki Interchange of Shin-Meishin Expressway, or approx. 35 minutes from Mibuno Interchange of Meihan Expressway. While damaged route is under construction, the alternate route using the Shin-Meihan Expressway section between Kusatsu Tanakami and Shigaraki is free of charge.

≪Regular Route≫
The Miho Museum can be reached via the Ritto Shigaraki Road (Prefectural Road 12) either from the direction of the Ritto area or from National Route 307 via Shigaraki.
