Catalogue Entry

This bottle was free-blown from blue translucent glass. The mouth is decorated with folded-back forms. The neck is narrow at one point and then spreads out towards the body. The narrow area of the neck results in a narrow central opening only 7-8mm wide, which would mean that the contents of the bottle would pour out slowly. Ten irregularly placed pinched ribs run vertically around the body. A single cord circles the base in place of a foot and the center of the base has a pontil mark. Today the bottle is covered with an extremely beautiful white iridescence that includes orange, yellow, red and green tinges. This bottle would probably have been used to contain perfumed oil.
