Catalogue Entry

This bottle was blown and then formed in a three-part mold from blue semi-translucent glass. The base was made from a separate mold. The area from the shoulders to the base is exactly like that seen at cat. No. 143, and it is possible that it was created from the same mold. However, this foot of this work has two holes in it, and pieces of blue glass have been attached to these two places on the interior of the bottle. The glass fragments have iridescence and are thought to be old glass. This is likely a case of similar glass pieces being found to match the glass of the bottle when it was patched. This bottle was probably used to hold perfumed oils or other such materials.
