把手付水注

透明ガラスを宙吹きして成形した水注である。口の周りに紐装飾をめぐらせ、肩から口にかけて把手を付ける。把手が口元から上に小さく立ち上がっており、この部分には筋を付けたような文様が両側に付く。底は吹いたガラス面を水平にし、周囲に紐を一重にめぐらせて安定させる。底中央にはポンテ跡がある。何の変哲もない作品だが、吹きガラスで作った丸みと形のバランスが素晴らしい。全面を覆う銀化は、金色に輝く中に青色、緑色、ピンクを垣間見せ、この器に、さらに尽きない魅力を加えている。

This pitcher was free-blown from translucent glass. A thread decoration circles the neck area, and a single handle extends from the shoulder to the mouth. The handle is raised slightly above the height of the mouth, and this section has stripes on both sides. The blown glass base of the pitcher is flat, and a single circuit of glass cord has been attached around the base to give it stability. There is a pontil mark on the center of the base. While this is a generally ordinary work, the rounded form of the blown glass and the balanced shape are quite superb. The overall surface is coated in iridescence which is gold with sparkling moments of blue, green, and pink. This iridescence adds an endless fascination to the work.
