Catalogue Entry

The cobalt colored bead is circled by a hieroglyphic inscription in turquoise. The lettering is inlaid into the body of the bead and its clear expression reflects the talents of its maker. The inscription includes the names of Amenhotep III (reigned from ca.1390 - 1353 BC) and his wife Tiye set in a cartouche, and reads "The good god, Neb-maat-re [Amenhotep III] given life [and] the King's wife Tiye [beloved] of Hathor, mistress of Dendera, who lives."
