Combs come in two types, those with teeth on one side, and those with teeth on both sides. The two-sided type has thicker teeth on one side, and narrower teeth on the other. These combs are primarily of wood and bone. Decorated combs continue a motif preferred by the Copts of an earlier period, made up of small double circles stamped into the comb.
